Pierwsze trzy albumy zespołu Yes są co prawda godne polecenia, ale można śmiało stwierdzić, że to właśnie „Fragile” sprawiło, że zespół stał się supergwiazdą w Ameryce. Być może to zbieg okoliczności, a może nie, że był to pierwszy album zespołu z Rickiem Wakemanem na klawiszach, ale z całą pewnością ma to związek z faktem, że „Fragile” zawierało dwa utwory, które później stały się jednymi z najbardziej kultowych w dorobku zespołu: „Roundabout” i „Long Distance Runaround”. „Fragile” zostało nagrane w Advision Studios w Londynie, w Anglii, i pierwotnie miało być albumem podwójnym, łączącym utwory studyjne i koncertowe, ale ten plan nigdy nie został zrealizowany, podobnie jak plan nagrania albumu z producentem Tomem Dowdem w Miami. Zamiast tego zespół wyprodukował płytę wspólnie z Eddym Offordem. Prawdopodobnie zastanawiacie się jednak, w jaki sposób Wakeman znalazł się w składzie na tę płytę, więc od razu do tego przejdziemy.
