Andromeda została założona w połowie 1968 roku przez gitarzystę, wokalistę i autora tekstów Johna Canna po stopniowym rozpadzie jego poprzedniego zespołu, legendy mod/psych The Attack.
Podczas sesji z Johnem Peelem, trio na krótko trafiło pod skrzydła DJ-a przed podpisaniem kontraktu z wytwórnią RCA.
