Wyreżyserowany przez nagrodzonego Grammy Jake’a Scotta album „Oasis Knebworth 1996” jest zapisem kultowego już koncertu, który jest jednym z najbardziej popularnych występów na żywo ostatnich 25 lat. Film celebruje historię wyjątkowej relacji między Oasis, a ich fanami, która ukazuje nam jeden z historycznych koncertów lat 90-tych. Opowiedziana jest ona w całości oczami obecnych tam fanów, zbudowana wokół obszernych i nigdy wcześniej niepublikowanych archiwalnych nagrań koncertowych, jak również zakulisowych wydarzeń z dodatkowymi wywiadami z zespołem i organizatorami koncertu.
Dwie noce bicia rekordów Oasis w Knebworth miały miejsce 10 i 11 sierpnia 1996 roku, świadkami tego historycznego momentu było ponad 250 tysięcy fanów zespołu. Bilety trafiły do sprzedaży 11 maja 1996 roku, w nocy przed lokalnymi sklepami muzycznymi i kasami biletowymi utworzyły się kolejki, a fani na całym świecie spędzili dzień na swoich telefonach stacjonarnych, próbując połączyć się z nieustannie zajętymi liniami rezerwacyjnymi. Wszystkie bilety wyprzedały się w mniej niż 24 godziny, bijąc przy tym każdy rekord kasowy w Wielkiej Brytanii. Organizatorzy oszacowali, że zespół mógł sprzedać dwa lub trzy razy więcej biletów, a ponad 2% populacji Wielkiej Brytanii próbowało kupić bilety.
Monumentalne pokazy rozgrywały się na tle Wielkiej Brytanii powoli wychodzącej z dekady recesji. Wyłaniające się z lat 80-tych nastroje narodu zmieniały się, a kultura odradzała się. Powstała Cool Britannia, czyli okres wzmożonej popularności brytyjskiej kultury popularnej i dumy z jej światowego rozprzestrzeniania. Oasis błyskawicznie ucieleśniło ten nowo odkryty optymizm i dumę. Dwa krótkie lata sprawiły, że zespół z osiedla miejskiego w Manchesterze stał się jednym z największych zespołów na świecie.
Koncert z Knebworth zawiera setlistę całkowicie wypełnioną klasykami takimi jak „Columbia”, „Ascuiesce”, „Champagne Supernova” czy „Don’t Look Back In Anger”. Nie mogło oczywiście zabraknąć „Wonderwall”, pierwszego utworu z lat 90-tych który przekroczył miliard streamów na Spotify.
